The Kukupara (Black Mussel) Choker Chain Set is a new addition to the Tiamāni "Moana" Collection. Ethically sourced from the coastlines of Aotearoa. Each shell holds an elegant curve sculptured by the sea, carrying rare fragments of Kapia (Kauri Gum) that create a beautiful unity of sea and forest.

The ātaahua (beautiful) kapia is emphasised with a gold gilt undertone, while the barnacles are sanded smooth and the shell is resin washed for strength. This process provides a high-gloss finish that highlights a deep black exterior with subtle hints of natural blue and purple, a colour palette as rich as the moana itself.

The Story Behind The Shell

The little black mussels work in collective groups as they cling to the shoreline rocks. They band together, providing strength in numbers against the battering waves of Tangaroa.
