Lima

'Lima' is the Samoan translation for hands. 

Lima is one of the five designs featured in the 'Tino/Body' series, showcasing motifs that are prominent throughout the Pacific, particularly in Samoa. A series I created to symbolise the strength and significance of various body parts.

This design represents the hands, with patterns that mirror the intricate lines and textures of the palm and fingers. Hands are seen as symbols of action, creativity, and connection, embodying their role in nurturing and caring for family, especially within the Pacific. 'Lima' reflects the role in which our hands shape and craft our world. In many Pacific Islands, hands are revered for their ability to create and nurture, representing both skill and tradition. The motifs in this design honor the hands' significance as tools of expression , embodying the essence of craftsmanship and ancestral ties.
