Who Am I
“An exploration of the art and culture of what it means to share a Kaputi in Aotearoa.”
Whitney Nicholls- Potts’ inspiration for the sacred space she has created with Kaputi arose from memories of time spent on marae, at home with whānau and friends. The result is a tea brand that is also an intentional exploration of the art and culture of what it means to share a Kaputi in Aotearoa New Zealand. Whitney draws from her own experiences of growing up between two worlds and where sharing a cup of tea marked an important social ritual for exploring common ground, bringing people together, ideas to life, sparking imagination and creating fertile ground for collective action and collaboration. Kaputi is known for creating high quality teas and infusions with organic and wild foraged plants. The blends that are synonymous with the brand are comprised of tea, herbs and medicinal plants from our backyards, the endemic flora of Aotearoa as well as from those from across the globe. These serve as the physical example of how kaputī culture creates spaces that foster innovation, conversation, and togetherness - with a distinctly Māori aesthetic and vibe. Kaputi are boutique blends handmade in small carefully considered batches. Each batch has been blended carefully by Whitney and her team in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland), New Zealand.
